Clapham Digital · for small agencies
Say yes to the technical work
You design, market or do SEO, and the technical side goes to whoever you can find. I’m the developer you bring in so you can bid on bigger work, and win it.
A shop of one or two, with a developer when you need one
A lot of the best agencies are one or two people who are great at design, marketing or SEO, and who contract out everything technical. Nothing wrong with that. It gets awkward when a client wants something deeper than a brochure site: a custom build, a migration, a store that has to hold up, a problem nobody on your side can explain.
I’m the technical partner you call for that. I’m not on your payroll, so you pay for me when there’s work. When a bid needs a real technical answer, I help you scope it and price it, and if you win it, I build it.
What you get that a bigger vendor can’t give you
- A technical voice in the client room. Some clients want a technical answer in plain English from a native speaker. I can join the call under your brand and answer for the work.
- US-based, when it matters. Some clients require a US developer and some just prefer one. You get that without hiring anyone.
- One person who is accountable. The developer who scopes the job is the one who builds it. What you tell me goes straight to the person doing the work.
- US time zones.I’m in Eastern Time, so your questions land in my working day, not in a contractor’s night. I answer within one business day, weekdays.
- No salary.I work when you have something to bid on or build. No retainer required, so a slow month costs you nothing.
What this is, and what it isn’t
I’m not the cheapest developer you can find. Offshore firms beat me on volume, and plenty of them do excellent work. What I offer is different: one person, close by, easy to reach, who stays in the feedback loop with you.
I’m the right call when the job needs a developer you can actually talk to: someone who stays in the loop with you from bid to launch.
Why bring me in
- I’ve been on the other side of your worst day.I spent years at the hosting end of enterprise WordPress, taking the calls when a site was slow, down or broken after an update. My job is to make you look good in front of your client.
- Enterprise scale.I’ve led development and support across hundreds of client sites at an agency.
- Nothing lives in my head. The code goes in your repos, the logins stay in your vault, and everything gets written down.
- Reviewed work.Every significant change I make is reviewed by independent AI models from different makers plus deterministic checks before I sign off.
What I take on
- Builds.Custom themes and plugins, the block editor, WooCommerce.
- Migrations.Including WordPress.com and VIP to managed hosting, and off WordPress when a client wants that.
- Fixes and rescues.See WordPress rescue.
- Performance and audits.See audits and speed.
- Ongoing care.Updates, backups and monitoring. See care reports.
- AI workflows. For your shop or its clients.
I can also work fully under your brand. Rates, blocks and the audit you can resell are on the white-label page.
How it works
- Tell me about the bid. Send what the client is asking for, even a half-formed brief.
- I tell you what it takes. What is easy, what is risky, and what I would need to know. Enough to put a number in your proposal.
- You win it, we firm up the scope. I work in your tools, your repo, your ticketing, your Slack, and your brand stays on everything the client sees.
- You get a written handoff for every job.
