Clapham Digital · WordPress rescue
Your WordPress site is broken. Let’s fix it.
A white screen after an update. A checkout that hangs. A site that takes eight seconds to load. Something injecting links you never added.
Start with a fixed-price diagnostic
$250, flat. I look at the site, find what is actually wrong, and send you a short written answer: what broke, what caused it, and exactly what fixing it takes. Nothing gets changed until you say so. If you go ahead, the $250 comes off the fix.
Most rescues land between $500 and $1,500 all-in, with a number agreed before I start. I couldn’t find anyone in Columbus who offers a small fixed-price first step, which is odd, because it is the part that lets you decide without risk.
Email [email protected] or call or text (614) 835-7163. Send the address and what you see. Please don’t start deleting plugins at random, because that destroys the evidence of what broke.
What I fix
- Broken after an update.A plugin, theme or PHP-version conflict. I find which one and why, then fix it properly instead of rolling back and hoping.
- Slow.I find out why in the code and the infrastructure: database queries, caching, hosting, bloat. I’ve cut full seconds off WooCommerce checkouts.
- Hacked or infected.Cleanup, plus the hole it came in through, hardened afterwards.
- Abandoned. The developer vanished, nobody has the logins, the host is a mystery. I sort out access, document what is there, and hand it back in one piece.
- Stuck migrations.Moving hosts and it half worked. I’ve run thousands of migrations.
- The cause nobody else checks: the host.A PHP version bump, a cache layer serving stale pages, a server out of memory, a migration that left half the config behind. I worked inside the hosting layer of enterprise WordPress, so I look there too, not just at plugins.
How a rescue works
- You send me the address and what is wrong. Logins can wait until we have talked.
- I look and tell you plainly what is broken, what caused it, and what fixing it costs, before I touch anything.
- I fix it on a copy first when the site makes money. Then live.
- You get a short write-up: what happened, what I changed, and what stops it happening again.
Your data: I take a full backup before I change anything, and I don’t run anything destructive without your OK.
After the rescue: keep it, or leave it
Once it is working, you get my honest read on whether it should stay on WordPress at all. Some sites should (a complex store, say). A lot of brochure sites would be better off as a static site that costs close to nothing to host and has almost nothing to hack. See moving off WordPress. No pressure either way.
Most broken sites broke because nobody was looking after them. If you want, I’ll keep it patched, backed up and monitored so this is the last emergency: care plans start at $250 a month. Plenty of people just want the fix, and that is fine.
Common questions
My site is down right now. What do I do?
Email or call. I answer the same business day, weekdays. I don’t promise 24/7, and anyone who does is selling you a queue. If it is a store and you are in the Columbus area, say so.
Do I need a maintenance plan for a one-off fix?
No.
Will I lose my content?
I take a backup before changing anything, so the answer is almost always no. If a fix could put something at risk, I tell you first.
Do you work on sites hosted anywhere?
Yes: managed hosts, cPanel, VPS, whatever you have.
I’m an agency and this is a client’s site.
I do rescues white-label, and the client never hears my name. See white-label.
Are you local?
Columbus, Ohio, downtown. I come on-site within about an hour at no travel charge, and I’ll drive up to two hours for the right job (a four-hour on-site minimum applies past an hour). I work remotely anywhere in the US.
Send me the site: Email [email protected] or call or text (614) 835-7163. If the site is slow rather than broken, see site audits and speed.
