I build the systems Columbus businesses run on

Websites, web apps, the integrations between them, and the AI that does one job well. In tech since 1996. You deal with me, start to finish.

What I build

  • Fast websites that cost almost nothing to run.A brochure site doesn’t need a server, a database or a hosting bill. I build static sites on modern, AI-friendly tooling (Astro on Cloudflare) that load instantly and give attackers almost nothing to hit.
  • WordPress when it’s the right call, and the way out when it isn’t.Twenty years of it: custom themes and plugins, WooCommerce, thousands of migrations. If yours is working, I’ll keep it healthy. If it’s costing you more than it should, I’ll say so plainly and move you off it.
  • Web apps and custom software.Internal tools, client portals, and the integrations that tie them into the rest of your business. I’ve taken my own apps from a blank file to the App Store and Google Play.
  • AI and automation.Intake, document handling, review replies, reporting, built around an outcome you can measure, with the checks that keep it honest. See AI for Columbus businesses.
  • Speed, hosting and the boring stuff.I wrote an open-source load-testing tool for WordPress hosts. See audits and speed.
  • Accessibility.Tested by hand with a keyboard and a screen reader, fixed in the code. No widget.

What it costs

  • A brochure site: from $2,500.Up to about ten pages, built static, fixed price, agreed in writing before I start.
  • A small-business site with forms, booking or a CMS: $4,000 to $8,000.Scoped after a short conversation, then a fixed price.
  • A web app or custom software: from $10,000.Scoped properly, delivered in stages you can see.
  • Anything outside a package: $130 an hour.Billed in the time actually worked, with an estimate up front.

A rescue starts with a $250 fixed-price diagnostic. Audits are $495, $1,500 or $2,950. Prices are published because nobody should have to ask what a website costs.

Care plans: keep it healthy

Most broken sites broke because nobody was looking after them. A care plan is a named senior engineer who knows your site, and who is there when something goes wrong or you have a question.

  • Essentials: $250 a month.Updates, backups and monitoring, with about two hours of changes a month.
  • Standard: $500 a month. The same, with up to five hours a month of changes and attention, replies the same business day, and me available when you have questions. Extra time is $130 an hour.
  • Senior Engineer on Staff: about $1,900 a month.Fourteen to sixteen hours a month, a standing weekly call, priority response inside stated hours, and me owning your roadmap and your incidents. Hours beyond that are $130 an hour. It is the closest thing to having a senior engineer on your payroll without the payroll.

Changes you want made to the site come out of your plan’s hours, so you never wonder whether something is “in scope.” If you’d rather edit the site yourself, we can set that up too.

Why one senior developer

  • The person who scopes it builds it.No handoff to a junior after the sale.
  • I worked inside the hosting layer. Most developers never see the server, the cache or the logs. I spent years there at enterprise scale, so when something is slow or broken I can see the whole stack.
  • You own everything. The code lives in your repos, the logins stay in your vault, and everything is written down. If we part ways, nothing walks out the door with me.
  • Plain English.I explain architecture tradeoffs in revenue, risk and cost terms.
  • The work holds up.Several client relationships have lasted past a decade.

On-site in Columbus

I’m downtown and will come to you. Within about an hour of downtown there is no travel charge. I’ll drive anywhere within two hours for the right job, with a four-hour on-site minimum past the one-hour mark. I ran my own IT business doing house calls before I was a developer, so I’ve crawled under plenty of desks. Remote anywhere in the US.

A small way to start

Send me your site and I’ll take a free 15-minute look and tell you what I see. If it needs more, the next step is a fixed-price diagnostic or audit, so you know what you are paying for before you pay.
